Come and join us on Saturday July 25th for this year’s Poker Run. All the proceeds from this event will go to the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation for the improvement of hospital services and is one way that we, KAPOA members, can contribute to the community.
In the last year, the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Foundation has changed its overall community health focus to support three separate boards – the Hospital Board, the M.V. Hospice Palliative Care Board and the Valley Manor Nursing Home Board. This year’s contribution will go toward the lease-purchase of the new digital mammography unit at the hospital, a continuation of our “Think Pink” program from last year.
This will be our third consecutive annual Poker Run. In 2013, 30 boats participated in the Poker Run for a contribution to the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Foundation of over $6,000. In 2014, there was total of 44 participants and other contributions for a total contribution to the Foundation of $9,300.
The goal for this year has been set at $10,000.
The contribution for each boat entered in the event is $200 all of will go to the Foundation for the “Think Pink” (digital mammography) program.
Please register and set your plans for July 25 to have a fun time going from signing in at the Barry’s Bay dock, visiting 7 other docks to draw your poker cards and then end up at Hinterland Beach for a rousing celebration including, the awarding of the prizes for the winning poker hands, beach-side entertainment and refreshment. By the way, if you would prefer not to go on the boat ride and would like to make the contribution to the hospital you can be a “virtual” participant by registering, having cards drawn on your behalf and participating in the prizes and other festivities at Hinterland. If you are a “virtual” participant and can’t make it to Hinterland that day, your cards will be drawn and you will participate in the Poker Run prizes.

To register on the internet complete the online form below. Print the completed form, attach your cheque made payable to SFVH Foundation and send it to the address on the form. Be sure to indicate if you will participate by boat or if you will be a virtual participant.

9:30 AM Complete registration details at the Barry’s Bay Dock
10:00 AM Visit 7 docks and draw your cards for your best poker hand
1:00 PM Arrive at Hinterland Beach for a BBQ and refreshments
2:30 PM Awarding the Poker Run prizes and revealing the amount of the contribution
