Regatta: Saturday July 30th at Hinterland

Join us on Saturday July 30 th at Hinterland beach for the annual KAPOA regatta. The registration desk opens at noon. Sailing races begin at 1pm.

We are always in need for new volunteers to step forward. Can you give us an hour of your time on regatta day? Contact Kerra at klwylie@sympatico.ca to help.

Please plan to bring a few extra dollars to buy a regatta t-shirt, a snack at the BBQ and 50/50 tickets.  Last year’s 50/50 winner took home $410. For more information, visit the Regatta page for details.

Missing Regatta Sign

Did you pick up the Regatta sign near corner of Siberia Rd and Kartuzy Rd last summer? If so, please let Kerra know at klwylie@sympatico.ca It would be great if you could put it up for this year’s regatta. Thanks!

Septic System Seminar: August 25th

A septic system seminar will be held at the Killaloe Public school on Thursday August 25th. This seminar will provide a great opportunity for you to learn more about effective septic system care.

Last year, 50% of septic systems tested in the North Bay of Kamaniskeg required repairs (as part of the Source Water Protection Program). Most did not show obvious signs of malfunction. It has been estimated that 25% of all phophorus going into Lake Kamaniskeg is coming from septic systems. It is important we reduce the amount of nutrients entering Kamaniskeg if we want to continue to enjoy good water quality. One pound of phosphorus entering the lake will produce 500 pounds of aquatic vegetation.

There is no fee for this seminar and everyone is welcome. This event is hosted by Golden Lake Property Owners. Visit: www.goldenlake.info for more information. For more information of septic systems, visit the septic system page of the KAPOA website.
