Hastings Highlands Council is proposing a 4.8% tax increase
Hastings Highlands Council has RESCHEDULED the proposed public Budget Information meeting originally scheduled for April 18 to MONDAY MAY 2 2016 @ 7 PM
The meeting will be held in Emond Hall, the auditorium of Hastings Highlands Municipal Offices, in Maynooth. All members of KAPOA living in Hastings Highlands are strongly encouraged to attend and voice an opinion on the proposed tax increase.

From Bancroft This Week: Policing costs are hitting Hastings Highlands hard, as its council tries to balance its books over the coming year. Recent letters to the editor speak of a public outcry at a suggested tax hike of nearly five per cent.
Algonquin Land Claim – Initialed
The negotiators have now initialed and publicly released a proposed Agreement-in-Principle. It incorporates their negotiated changes to the Preliminary Draft Agreement-in-Principle. The changes made are based on information received by all three parties through the consultation process.
Vegetative Buffer Bylaw – defeated
At the meeting of Hastings Highlands Council on Wednesday June 3 the proposed Vegetative Buffer Bylaw was defeated. Without a special motion in Council the issue cannot be revisited for 12 months.
